OnePlus Could Also Bring ‘OnePlus Nord Lite’; Geekbench Listing Appears

OnePlus confirmed that it will unveil its upcoming budget smartphone, OnePlus Nord, on July 21 via an AR event. A mysterious smartphone from OnePlus has now appeared on a Geekbench listing, and speculations are that it could be OnePlus Nord Lite.

As per the listing on Geekbench’s website, this smartphone has a mid-range processor, which suggests that it could be a lighter version of OnePlus Nord. The purported OnePlus Nord Lite shows model no. “OnePlus BE 2028,” so is certainly not OnePlus Nord since Nord appeared on the Geekbench with model No. AC 2003.

The listing mentions that the smartphone uses a ‘lite processor,’ commonly used to denote the Snapdragon 765 series. However, identifier details and base CPU frequency indicate that it could be the recently launched Snapdragon 690 chipset. The SoC was released last month and is the first processor in the 600 series to have 5G capabilities.

As for the other details in the Geekbench listing, the smartphone has 6GB RAM and is powered by Android 10.

There has been no official confirmation from OnePlus regarding this new smartphone. In an interview with fast.com, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed that OnePlus would return to its roots in offering budget smartphones after a stint in premium flagships.

Chances are that the OnePlus smartphone on the Geekbench listing could be a different series altogether and might be launched later. We recommend our readers take this information with a pinch of salt as there are no official sources to confirm that the model number “OnePlus BE 2028” is OnePlus Nord Lite. Still, the possibility cannot be ruled out.
