In March 2020, PINE64 opened the pre-order window for its ARM-based Linux laptop Pinebook Pro. If you missed placing an order last time, you now have another chance to grab Pinebook Pro.
Yes, PINE64, the maker of the original Pinebook Pro, has started to take the next batch of pre-orders for Pinebook Pro. Both the ISO and ANSI keyboard versions of Pinebook Pro are in stock right now and available to place an order from the official site here.
The price of both editions is $199.99 USD, excluding the shipping charges. The shipment of this production-run Linux laptop will probably begin in late August 2020.
Pinebook Pro: What’s Inside?
Speaking of core components, the 14.1-inch Pinebook Pro with IPS LCD display is powered by the 64-bit dual-core ARM 1.8GHz Cortex A72 and Quad-Core ARM 1.4GHz Cortex A53 processor. For memory, it has 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB of eMMC 5.0 storage.
As already announced by Pine64, Pinebook Pro comes with Manjaro Linux by default. However, if you don’t want this rolling Linux distro, you can also install other Linux distributions such as Debian and Fedora.
Pinebook Pro supports a wide range of operating systems not only based on Linux but also on BSD. You can check out the list of supported operating systems on Pinebook Pro.
For external connectivity, it has one Headphone jack, one MicroSD card slot, and one USB 2.0 Type-A host port. On top of that, Pinebook also has USB 3.0 Type-C ports with an alt-mode display.
Hence, using USB-C docks, you can also connect your Linux laptop Pinebook Pro with other devices of PINE64 like PineTab or the latest PinePhone postmarketOS CE.
