You Can Still Use OnePlus 8 Pro “See Through” Color Filter Camera Via ADB

Among the wonders of OnePlus 8 Pro is a dedicated 5MP color filter lens that applies camera filters manually with the help of lens coating and some post-processing. OnePlus said it could turn “ordinary scenes into a surreal landscape.”

But the unique feature of the OnePlus 8 Pro has also been the most controversial one. Previously, the camera filter coupled with Photochromatic mode allowed users to see through plastic objects and thin clothing. OnePlus disabled access to the Photochromatic mode after much uproar, but brought it back with Oxygen OS 10.5.10 update.

However, the feature no longer behaves as it used to, according to many OnePlus users. OnePlus, via Android Authority, said that the Photochromatic filter now needs more light to capture good pictures. Nevertheless, it’s safe to say that the flair has now vanished.

Thankfully, there is still a way to return the OnePlus 8 Pro’s color filter camera to its glory. An XDA member has discovered that you can get the feature as to how it originally came via ADB and the Factory Mode app.

OnePlus 8 Pro See Through Camera Filter: Here’s How to get it back

To get back the “real” color filter camera, OnePlus 8 Pro users need to open the Factory Mode app via ADB. Here’s what you need to do —

1. Turn on USB debugging on your device.
2. Connect your device to a PC and open the command line.
3. Type “adb devices” and press enter to see if your device is being recognized (You will need ADB tools installed on your PC).
4. Type “adb shell” and press enter. Then type, “am start -n com.oneplus.factorymode/.camera.manualtest.CameraManualTest” and again press enter.

This will start the Factory mode app on your OnePlus 8 Pro. Tap on the camera switcher icon in the bottom right corner and select the 4th camera filter. Now, you can finally use the camera filter camera, as initially delivered by OnePlus.
