Apple WWDC 2020: No Hardware Launch According To Multiple Leaks

Up until now, many leaks and rumors have suggested that Apple will announce its first ARM-based MacBook and possibly a redesigned iMac at tomorrow’s WWDC event.

While ARM-based custom chips will be unveiled, Apple has scrapped all plans to announce any new hardware, according to Apple leakers Jon Prosser and Max Weinbach.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman also believes that Apple users shouldn’t expect any hardware-related announcements at Apple’s WWDC 2020.

This shouldn’t be very surprising as Apple rarely reveals any hardware at WWDCs like it didn’t announce anything back in 2018. That being said, it did preview the Mac Pro at WWDC 2019.

The supply issues that Apple has been facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic could be a reason to postpone the announcement. It could also be the case that Apple didn’t have any plans to reveal new hardware from the very beginning.

Nevertheless, the ARM-based Macs are still coming, and according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, they will be launching in late 2020 or early 2021.

Kuo also said that it would be a 13.3-inch Macbook Pro running ARM chips, and the design will be similar to the current 13.3-inch MacBook Pro model. As rumored, a new iMac will also be arriving with a new design and 24-inch display.

Again, none of this will be part of WWDC 2020. That being said, it will still be tight-packed with announcements, including the new macOS 10.16 update, software updates to tvOS, watchOS, and a lot more.

WWDC 2020 live stream will begin at 10 AM PDT tomorrow (10:30 PM IST). You can tune in from Apple’s website or YouTube.
