PS5 Revealed: Official Design, Digital Version, 3D Headphone, And More

After a lot of speculation and online leaks, the Sony PS5 (Playstation 5) is finally here, and it looks, unlike any gaming console we’ve ever seen.

Sony revealed its official PS5 design last night, along with brand new console accessories and 15 new games. Here’s everything you need to know about last night’s PS5 reveal event.

PS5 Revealed: Official Design And Digital Version

The upcoming PS5 is all white in color with black in between, which houses a bunch of blue LEDs. The overall design resembles an ice cream sandwich.

The air vents are very carefully hidden beneath the LED lights, and the entire console looks really sleek from every angle.

There are two USB ports at the front, a USB Type 3.0, and a USB Type-C port as well. The front also has a touch-based power and an eject button. There is not much information on how it looks from the back.

The upcoming PS5 will have two versions, one with a 4K Ultra HD (UHD) Blu-Ray drive and an all-digital one. You can see the size difference between both of them is a couple of inches.

The disc-based PS5 will be slightly more expensive and is obviously thicker than the all-digital Playstation 5.

ps5 Revealed Digital Edition

Speaking of expensive, there is still no word on the pricing yet. Sony has only revealed the console design at this moment.

During the presentation, the PS5 was shown in a vertical orientation. However, it can be laid down sideways without any issues.

Overall, the original design of the PS5 looks not a lot different than the other futuristic renders of the console that were revealed online. The PS5 also has a V-Shaped crevice on top, which kind of resembles the PS5 dev-kit leaked a couple of months back.

Compared to the Xbox Series X, which is simply a rectangular box, the PS5 has a very vibrant design. It is hard to design stuff that looks edgy, but every element of it also serves a purpose. I personally think that the PS5 nailed the design.

PS5 DualSense Controller And Charging Station

PS5 Dualsense Controller Revealed

Sony again gave us a look at the PS5 DualSense controller, which is an evolution of the dual shock series of controllers. It features a USB Type-C port for fast charging, resistive triggers for different sensations, and a headphone jack that supports 3D audio.

To make the gaming experience as seamless as possible, the controller also comes with an inbuilt speaker and microphone. The PS5 dual sense controller also features improved haptic feedback motors and a touchpad in the middle, just like the PS4 controller.

PS5 Controller charging station reveal event

Sony also revealed a DualSense charging station for controllers, with the ability to charge two controllers at once.

PS5 HD Camera, Pulse 3D Headset, Media Remote

Other accessories revealed at the end of the event included an HD camera for the PS5. We also saw a similar camera during the PS4 reveal event in 2013.

Sony also revealed a wireless headset called the Pulse 3D. It will support 3D audio that Sony claims will change the gaming experience entirely.

PS5 3D Headset

During the PS5 tech event, PlayStation’s Mark Cerny spent a good amount of time detailing the tech that goes behind the 3D audio. From the looks of it, these headsets are sure to change the game.

PS5 Media Remote

To top it all off, Sony also revealed a simple white-colored media remote for the PS5.
