After more than five months of development, the MX Linux team has released a new third point version, 19.3, of its current MX Linux 19 “Patito Feo” series.
This MX-19.3, a mix of Debian and antiX Linux distros, contains several bug fixes and application updates for all editions featuring either Xfce or KDE Plasma.
As the previous MX Linux 19.2 featured the first officially supported 64-bit KDE edition with Advanced Hardware Support (AHS) enabled, the latest MX-19.3 KDE includes updated KDE Plasma desktop 5.15, Linux kernel 5.8, firmware, and mesa packages.
Additionally, MX Linux 19.3 has pulled the latest updates from its upstream Debian Buster 10.6 and upgraded its core MX repository and software packages that include:
- Xfce 4.14 or KDE Plasma 5.15
- GIMP 2.10.12
- MESA 18.3.6 (v20.1.8 for AHS)
- Debian 4.19 kernel (5.8 kernel for AHS)
- Firefox 82
- VLC 3.0.11
- Clementine 1.3.1
- Thunderbird 68.12.0
- LibreOffice 6.1.5
Among other MX-apps, MX PackageInstaller has updated kernel entries, MX Installer has fixed issue with autoinstall and ESP flat setting on UEFI setups, and MX Snapshot has received miscellaneous enhancements like a reset network connection function.
The antiX live system is also improved like live system will no longer set alt+shift by default for keyboard switching.
How To Upgrade Or Install MX Linux 19.3?
If you’re using the previous MX-19.2, you can easily upgrade your system to MX-19.3 by manually updating your packages using MX Updater tool. To upgrade from older versions, you can follow the official migration guide here that includes some manual changes.
