Well-known Linux PC vendor System76 has launched the refreshed version of its light and thin Galago Pro Linux laptop. The latest Galago Pro contains several upgrades including looks and specifications.
This 14-inch laptop with 1080p Full HD matte display now features Intel Iris Xe Graphics along with optional support for NVIDIA graphics (GeForce GTX 1650) for the first time.
Not just the graphics, but also for high computing performance, Galago Pro has an 11th generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processor with quad cores and eight threads.
And for memory? It boasts up to 64GB dual-channel DDR4 RAM and up to 2TB of PCIe 4.0 NVMe storage that speeds up load times and large file transfers.
Under the hood, the laptop equips quiet yet powerful fans to provide better cooling and efficiency while you work continuously for long hours.
Similar to the other System76’s laptop lineups like Bonobo WS, Galago also now comes with in-house Coreboot-based System76 Open Firmware.
This open source firmware not only gives fast boot time and increased security, but also Embedded Controller Firmware to tweak or have control over important functionality such as keyboards, fans, and batteries.
For external physical and wireless connectivity, the Galago Pro includes the following capabilities:
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C
- 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A
- 1x Thunderbolt 4
- 1x microSD Card Reader
- Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI
- Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5
- 1x Headphone/Microphone combo
Last but not least, the laptop ships one of the best beginner’s friendly Ubuntu-based Pop!_OS 20.04, which gives you productivity-oriented features like Automatic Window Tiling and Hybrid Graphics Mode.
If you’re convinced enough to buy the new Galago Pro, get it from here with a price starting at $999.
