For the past weeks, Xiaomi has been busy issuing the MIUI 12 update to the second batch of the MIUI 12 supported devices. However, it appears that the team is also working on MIUI 12 updates based on Android 11 side-by-side.
Android 11 beta is already out for the Pixel lineup and other supported devices. A few Xiaomi devices have also been allowed to test the latest Android version. According to a Mi fan with an extensive following on the Mi forum, Xiaomi is already testing the MIUI 12 Android 11 update on several devices. On top of that, the Mi user also claims to have an official list of MIUI 12 Android 11 eligible devices.
There hasn’t been an official announcement from the company, so we would advise users to take this information with a grain of salt. That being said, he seems to be right about the Xiaomi devices that are testing Android 11 internally, since many of them are under the Google Beta program.
Here is the list of Xiaomi devices that are being tested for Android 11 based MIUI 12 —
- Mi 10 (Android 11 Beta 2 based on MIUI 12)
- Mi 10 Pro (Android 11 Beta 2 based on MIUI 12)

The Mi user claims that the first MIUI 12 Android 11 stable ROM is scheduled for release in September but there is no way to confirm the information. However, we know that the Android 11 final release will come in September, so maybe Xiaomi is planning to jump on the bandwagon right away.

In the community post, the Mi user says that Xiaomi devices using Snapdragon 845, such as the Mi 8 and Mix 2S, will not be updated to Android 11. That might be true because both the devices are almost two years old. However, this is by no means the final list of Xiaomi devices eligible for the Android 11 based MIUI 12 update, and we will see several changes to the list in the future.
