Today, Amazon announced a new cloud-based gaming service, Luna, at its 2020 hardware event. Luna will provide games for devices like the iPhone, iPad, Fire TV, Mac, PC, and is coming soon for Android.
Currently, only users in the US can request an invitation for early access. The service’s starting fee is $5.99 per month, whereas $49.99 for an exclusive Luna controller. However, users can also use their gaming controllers to play games.
Luna is built on Amazon Web Services (AWS), one of the most popular cloud platforms in the industry. The games will run on Amazon’s cloud computing platforms, will accept input from users’ controllers, and display the output in the form of an HD video stream.
Amazon is launching Luna with over 100 game titles. As per reports, Ubisoft will also add a separate Luna channel in the future with exclusive game titles.
Luna is well integrated with Amazon’s game-streaming service, Twitch. It will also provide the option for gamers to stream their games directly on Twitch.
