Soon after releasing the Windows 10 October 2020 Update, Microsoft is now testing new features for future releases.
The latest Windows Insider Build 20241 is out, and one of the visible Windows 10 features it brings is the new splash screen for UWP apps.
The Windows app splash screen is now theme-aware which means it will change color according to the default theme picked by the user. The change won’t affect the way people use the app but it’s going to enhance the visual appeal for sure.
To recall, Microsoft has also made the Start Menu Tiles theme-aware in the latest Windows 10 2009 feature update. You can read more about 20H2 features in our detailed post.
The theme-aware splash screen currently works with a limited number of Microsoft-made UWP apps. The list includes Settings, Windows Security, Alarms & Clock, Calculator, Maps, Movies & TV, Snip & Sketch, etc.
Right now, the new preview feature is available to a limited set of Dev Channel insiders for initial testing. Microsoft says that more apps get the new splash screen support in the coming future via Microsoft Store updates.
Apart from this, Build 20241 comes with improved defragment experience. The Optimize Drives page now features a new Advanced View checkbox that displays all volumes including the hidden ones. Also, the Current Status column now shows more information in case a volume is not available for defrag.
