Minecraft Java Will Require A Microsoft Account By Early 2021

Mojang Studios, Minecraft’s owner, has made a “fun” announcement that Minecraft players will soon require a Microsoft account. That’s because moving the Java or Mojang account over to Microsoft will grant more safety and security to players.

The Microsoft account will be mandatory for all Minecraft players starting from early 2021. According to Mojang, two-factor authentication will safeguard players’ accounts against hacking. Also, it will provide better parental control and chat and invitation blocking.

Mojang made it pretty clear in its official blog post that migrating to Microsoft is Mandatory. If you don’t migrate in the next few months, you won’t be able to log in to your Minecraft account, which you definitely don’t want.

Also, aside the fact that players will have to log in to Minecraft Java using their Microsoft account, nothing else will change. Minecraft Java and Bedrock are still going to be separate games.

Players will get to keep their Java username without getting anything changed. Moreover, this change will not affect the Minecraft Mods and skins in any way. Players can keep their existing mods and skins while also being capable of creating new ones.

So, by migrating from Mojang to Microsoft, players will not lose anything. On the other hand, for having players go through this switch, Mojang will reward every player with a special cape. So, it will be a great opportunity for players to grab Java’s old exclusive item for free.

Every Minecraft Java player will get an email with clear instructions to make the switch. However, Mojang will not send the email to all the players at the same time. As the Minecraft Java community is massive, Mojang will move players to Microsoft accounts in batches.
