Tata Motors Launches XM+ Variant Of Altroz To Take On New Hyundai i20

Tata Motors today launched a new XM+ variant of its premium hatchback Altroz at Rs 6.60 lakh (ex-showroom). The Indian automaker made the move following the launch of its rival new Hyundai i20.

Hyundai recently launched the 4th generation i20 at an introductory price of Rs 6.70 lakh (ex-showroom). The new variant of i20 is launched with a new design, premium features, and enhanced safety. However, the price of the new i20 is much higher than its rivals Tata Altroz and Maruti Baleno.

The starting ex-showroom prices for Tata Altroz and Maruti Baleno are Rs 5.44 lakhs and Rs 5.64 lakhs respectively.

Altroz is a premium hatchback from Tata Motors. It’s also the safest hatchback in India and is awarded a five-star safety rating in the global NCAP crash test. So far the hatchback has received an overwhelming response from the masses.

However, the competition now seems to be getting tough with the launch of the new i20. As Hyundai improves the build quality and safety standards of the new i20, it can increase its market share.

Tata Altroz XM+ Comes With Premium features To Stay Ahead Of i20

Though Tata Altroz is the safest car in the segment, its lower end variants look faded in features. Therefore, the automaker launched Tata Altroz XM+ variant with some premium features to stay sharp in the competition.

Additionally, the company kept the price of XM+ variant Rs 10,000 lower than the base price of the new i20. The XM+ variant will be equipped with additional features like a 17.78 cm touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. In addition, the automaker added steering mounted controls, voice command recognition, voice alerts, foldable remote key, and R16 wheels with stylized wheel covers.

In short, it’s a variant that can give a fair competition to Hyundai i20 base model.
