Hyundai recently launched the 4th generation of its premium hatchback i20. In our previous posts, we showed you the price list of the new Hyundai i20 and we found it quite expensive than before. Additionally, the price of the new i20 is greater than its rivals Tata Altroz and Maruti Baleno.
However, it’s not that Hyundai just raised the price bar on the basis of a new makeover. The automaker has introduced a whole pack of features and enhanced safety as well. Let’s explore all those new and exciting features that Hyundai incorporated in the new i20.
Hyundai i20 New Features
Raised Safety Standards To Compete With Tata Altroz
The 4th generation i20 is based on the new lightweight K-Platform with enhanced tensile strength. The structure is made up of 66% advanced and high strength steel. Apart from this, there are up to 6 six airbags which Hyundai claims to be the best in the segment. In contrast, both its competitors Maruti Baleno and Tata Altroz come equipped with dual front airbags.
Additionally, Hill Assist Control, TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), and Emergency stop signal are among some first in segment features.
Other safety features include Vehicle Stability Management, Vehicle Stability Control, and ISOFIX.
Furthermore, standard safety features include front dual-airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensor, and seat belt reminder.

Best In Segment Features
Unlike its previous generation, the new Hyundai i20 is loaded with many best in class features. The South Korean automaker has given a demonstration of its technical abilities by providing best in class 26.03 cm HD infotainment screen and navigation system.
Additionally, the infotainment system comes integrated with Hyundai’s BlueLink and smartphone connectivity with AppleCarplay and Android Auto.
In addition, the new i20 comes equipped with bose premium seven speaker system for an amazing sound experience.
Furthermore, the automaker provides the best in segment sporty metal pedals for performance-oriented rides and leather seat upholstery for enhancing the premium feel of the hatchback.
Next-Gen Features In 2020 Hyundai i20
Considering the air quality in the country, Hyundai has provided the first in segment Oxyboost air purifier with air quality indicator. Also, Hyundai i20 hosts multiple firsts in segment features like wireless charger with cooling pad and BlueLink with over the air (MAP) updates.
Earlier, we saw an over-the-air map update feature in Kia Sonet and Seltos. However, both of these cars are slightly more premium than the i20.

Many people think that the new i20 is overpriced considering the price range of its rivals. However, whether it be Tata Altroz, Maruti Baleno or Volkswagen Polo, all the above features are missing from them.
The base variant of the new i20 might be a bit overpriced. However, the specs and features of the new i20 justify its price.
