Galaxy S9 And S9+ Start Receiving OneUI 2.5; Their Last Big Update

Samsung has reportedly begun rolling out the OneUI 2.5 update to the Galaxy S9 and the S9+, which is theoretically the last big update to the S9 series. The news comes after Samsung recently rolled out the OneUI 2.5 stable update to the Galaxy Note 9 series.

The update holds the firmware version G96xFXXUCFTJ2 and is reportedly being issued first to Galaxy S9 and S9+ users in Germany. However, we are certain that the update will shortly arrive on S9 series in other countries as well.

If you own a Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9+, you can check if the OneUI 2.5 update has arrived for your device or not by following the these steps —

  • Go to the device settings
  • Scroll down and tap on Software update
  • Tap on Download updates manually
  • Wait for the device to check for new updates
  • Install the new OneUI 2.5 update

The OneUI 2.5 update comes with several big changes; however, the biggest one is the Wireless DeX. The feature allows users to run DeX wirelessly with a TV that supports screen mirroring. Other than that, there is much-awaited gesture navigation support for third party launchers, a pro video mode, improved Samsung’s keyboard, and much more.

As we mentioned earlier, this is possibly the last big update that the S9 series will ever receive. Security updates will continue to arrive, but S9 and S9+ owners should not hope to get the Android 11-based OneUI 3.0 update.
