OnePlus will begin rolling out Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 for the OnePlus 7 series in December 2020, according to a OnePlus spokesperson.
This comes after the company recently began rolling out OxygenOS 11 stable updates for OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. Yesterday, OnePlus also unveiled the OnePlus 8T, which will come with Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 out-of-the-box. It makes sense that the focus is shifting to the previous OnePlus models.
Previously, OnePlus confirmed a list of OnePlus devices that will support OxygenOS 11; however, it refrained from revealing a roll-out schedule. According to Android Authority, the OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7T, and OnePlus 7T Pro will receive the OxygenOS 11 update by the end of this year. Hopefully, the 5G versions of 7 Pro and 7T Pro will also get the update.
Of course, similar to OnePlus 8, the roll-out of OxygenOS 11 on the OnePlus 7 series will be done incrementally. However, there will likely be a gap between OxygenOS 11 coming to the OnePlus 7 series and the OnePlus 7T series since the two series run different chipsets.
Now that we know that the OnePlus 7 series will get the Android 11 update in December, OnePlus will most likely begin OxygenOS 11 public beta testing in the coming weeks.
The new Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 brings several new features for OnePlus users such as the much-awaited Always-on Display, a revamped Zen Mode, several of the biggest features of Android 11, a dark mode shortcut key in the quick settings menu, and more.
