A well-known Linux PC vendor System76 has finally unveiled its first fully AMD-powered Linux laptop called Pangolin.
Unlike System76’s all previous laptops with Intel CPU (except Serval WS with AMD processor), a new Pangolin laptop features AMD Ryzen CPU with AMD Radeon integrated graphics.
It offers two options for AMD processor: one with 6 Cores Ryzen 6 4500U (up to 4.0 GHz) and other with 8 Cores Ryzen 7 4700U (up to 4.1 GHz).
With a base weight of 3.5 lbs (1.6 kg), Pangolin screen measure 15.6-inch with 1080p Full HD matte display. On the memory side, it has up to 64GB DDR4 RAM and one M.2 NVMe slot with up to 8TB of Solid State Storage (SSD).
For external connectivity, it has one each USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A and Gen 2 Type-C port, two USB 2.0 Type-A port, one HDMI video port, one microSD Card Reader, one Headphone or Microphone combo, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 support.
As usual, Pangolin Linux laptop also ships System76’s own powerful and beginner-friendly 64-bit Pop!_OS 20.04 or 20.10 operating system with an option for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS as well.
To play with keyboard-driven Pop!_OS, laptop has multi-color backlit US QWERTY keyboard and multi-touch Clickpad.
Furthermore, it also gives you a special security slot called Kensington Lock. You can connect an anchor to it in order to prevent the device from theft.
If you’re interested in buying it right now, unfortunately, it’s unavailable even for pre-order. However, you can sign up for a notification when it’s available from here.
As the product page says, the price of Pangolin model will start at $849 USD and up.
